Interested in learning about novel data analysis methods and tools for addiction research? To better understand the science of addiction disorders, the research community needs continuous development of novel methods across the translational research spectrum, from personalized medicine to epidemiology.
This course features exemplary innovations from two Tufts CTSI partners about the application of genomics/genetics as well as geospatial analyses in addiction research.
Vivek Philip, PhD, will showcase the integrated genetics and genomics core of the Center for Systems Neurogenetics of Addiction (CSNA) at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX)’s research. His talk will introduce you to genomic and genetic tools used for quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping of behavioral phenotypes, and discuss how animal modeling can provide insights to enhance our understanding human behaviors.
Thomas Stopka, PhD, will discuss the use of geographic information systems and spatial epidemiology to analyze the opioid syndemic, overlapping epidemics caused by the use and misuse of opioids, as well as other health disparities issues.
This course requires enrollment in Tufts CTSI iLearn.
