Established by the division of Research and Innovation in 2020, the mission of the Research Academy is to build a sustainable research community and elevate research excellence at UAMS. It aspires to create innovative care models and transformative breakthroughs in medicine. This mission aligns with UAMS Vision 2029 to make Arkansas the healthiest state in the region.
As our first initiative, Research and Innovation has partnered with the Translational Research Institute to launch a Mentored Grant-Writing Program for its Research Academy Scholars. The goal of this initiative is to expand research grant success through a structured grant-writing program and dedicated expert mentorship.
We welcomed six faculty members to our 2020 cohort. This first class of Research Academy Scholars worked over the summer of 2020, targeting an October 2020, R01 proposal submission. The program is free for Scholars and offers research voucher incentives for mentors who participate.
For more information about the program please refer to the 2020 Program Announcement. An updated program announcement will be posted when we launch the 2021 Academy.
