Presented by the Division of Radiation Health Research Forum: Lessons from Chernobyl: Population Genetic Consequences of Technogenic Catastrophe Presented by Dr. Valevij Glazko August 5, 2014 4:40 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. College of Public Health, G225 Several mammalian species, including homo sapiens, were assessed for genetic changes influenced by the increased ionizing irradiation after the Chernobyl accident. The obtained data suggests that the predominant effect of environmental exposure to radiation is the decrease in reproductive potential of the radiation-sensitive forms.
