Career Development Conference Focuses on Health Equity

UAMS, in collaboration with the University of Maryland Center for Health Equity, will conduct its inaugural Developing Health Equity Leaders Conference on May 30. This 1-day professional development conference is intended for UAMS faculty, clinicians, fellows, post-docs, and scientists interested in health disparities and health equity research.

TRI Sets March 19 Research CHAT (Constructive Help, Advice and Tips)

An informal mentoring/support session for people who coordinate clinical research studies, by people who coordinate clinical research studies. Join us for questions, answers, encouragement and snacks. This group meets the fourth Tuesday every other month.


TRI Releases RFA for Annual Pilot Awards

Applications are now being accepted for the Translational Research Institute’s (TRI) annual Clinical and Translational Pilot Research Awards. The pilot awards are up to $50,000 each and will provide funding for one year. The deadline for pre-proposals is Feb. 6, 2013. View the complete RFA here.


TRI Seeking Applicants for Collaborative Scholars Awards

The UAMS Translational Research Institute is inviting applications for the Clinical and Translational Collaborative Scholars Awards program. The awards are up to $5,000 and will assist in facilitating new and existing collaborations within the newly formed Western States Collaborative, which includes UAMS, the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Kansas University and the University of Utah (see RFA announcement below). TRI Announces Funding Opportunities for 4-State CTSA Collaborative

The Western States Collaborative, which includes the UAMS Translational Research Institute (TRI) and the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Kansas University and the University of Utah, has issued a request for applications (RFA) for clinical and translational research pilot projects. The RFA’s purpose is to promote inter-institutional  collaboration involving at least two of the four NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) institutions. Pilot funding amounts will vary depending on the number of institutions involved in a project. UAMS’ application deadline is Feb. 15, 2013. The complete RFA is here.


Big Data Boost

The UAMS Enterprise Data Warehouse has added data from about 200,00 patients from UAMS Area Health Education Centers (AHECs) Family Medical Centers around the state. This gives the TRI-supported Data Warehouse about one million patients whose de-identified data can support a wide range of research. You can read more about the Data Warehouse here.


Join Us for Core Day and Win an iPad!

Please join the Translational Research Institute (TRI) Translational Technologies Core for our 2012 Core Day on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Wilson Education Building. Core Day is being held in association with Professional Development Day.

Core Day, a drop-by event, will give you the opportunity to meet Core staff and learn about the UAMS Core Facilities and Technical Services available to help you in your research. Core facilities are pay-per-use research laboratories or analytical services.
